Therapy with lived experience, presence and human insight

My name is Anna Hurst, and I am a psychotherapist (in training) with a holistic, integrative, body-oriented approach based in Frederiksberg.
I work with people who find themselves in periods of stress, anxiety, grief, life crises, or inner patterns that feel difficult to shift – and who are longing for more calm, clarity, and a deeper sense of connection to themselves.
I understand how profoundly life can change us. My own experiences with stress, burnout and sick leave, a significant life crisis through divorce, and the sudden loss of a close family member have deeply shaped both my personal and professional path.
These experiences have given me a grounded respect for the human process – how differently we respond, and how essential it is to be met with presence, slowness, and genuine care.
In my work, I offer a safe and grounded space where you can land in what feels overwhelming, reconnect with yourself, and gradually find more balance, stability, and inner peace.
Do you experience restlessness in your body, racing thoughts, or a constant sense of being “switched on”?
Stress and anxiety can show up in many ways – as inner tension, sleep difficulties, overthinking, or a feeling of losing connection with yourself.
In therapy, we work with what lies beneath the symptoms.
We explore your patterns, reactions, and experiences – at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
I work holistically with psychotherapy and will include bodywork because working physically with calming the nervous system is essential for the healing process.
This not only helps you understand what you are going through, but also supports a deeper sense of calm and lasting change that you can feel in your everyday life.
You are met in a safe and present space, with room for all of you.

When we experience something overwhelming, it can settle deeply within us – not only as memories, but as reactions in the body and in the way we relate to the world.
Perhaps you recognize:
A constant sense of alertness or inner tension
Flashbacks or distressing memories that arise
Sleep difficulties or trouble being able to rest
Emotional numbness or a sense of disconnection from yourself
Reactions that feel stronger than the situation itself seems to require
Trauma is not a sign of weakness – it is a sign that your system has been trying to protect you.
In therapy, we work gently and at your own pace to create more safety within your system. We start from where you are, without pressure or overwhelm.
I primarily work with psychotherapy and may include bodywork as a supportive element when it feels helpful. This can support you in gradually releasing stuck patterns and rebuilding a sense of calm, stability, and connection to yourself.
You are met in a safe and respectful space, with room for your whole experience.
Grief and loneliness can feel overwhelming – as if the world suddenly becomes quiet or loses its meaning.
Perhaps you recognize:
A heaviness or emptiness that is hard to put into words
A feeling of being alone – even when you are with others
Longing that fills much of your day
Withdrawing from life or from other people
When we lose someone or feel disconnected, both the body and mind respond. It can be difficult to find your way back on your own.
In therapy, I meet you with presence, calm, and respect for what you are going through. We work at your pace – with what feels present – gradually creating more space for both the grief and what is still alive within you.
I primarily work with psychotherapy and may include bodywork as a supportive element when it feels helpful. This can support you in gently reconnecting with yourself and your emotions.
You do not have to carry it alone.

Life changes – sometimes gradually, and sometimes so suddenly that everything familiar seems to disappear.
A life crisis can arise through divorce, illness, loss, work-related stress, or major transitions in life.
You may experience confusion, restlessness, emptiness, or stress – and a sense of not quite recognizing yourself in what is new.
When life feels overwhelming, it can be difficult to find direction on your own.
In therapy, I meet you where you are – without expectations that you need to have everything under control.
Together, we work towards creating more calm and clarity, so you can gradually understand your reactions and find your footing again.
I primarily work with psychotherapy and may include body work as a supportive element when it feels helpful. This can support you in moving out of your head and into a more grounded connection with yourself.
The goal is not to remove what feels difficult – but to help you stand more steadily within it, and find your own way forward at your own pace.
Do you often find yourself doubting yourself?
Perhaps you compare yourself to others, hold yourself back, or struggle to trust your own decisions.
Over time, this can affect your relationships, your choices, and your sense of joy in life.
In therapy, we work with understanding the patterns that lie beneath your self-criticism and insecurity.
You are supported in:

How does therapy with me support you:
These sessions are based on talk-based therapy. You use your words to describe your challenges, emotions, and bodily sensations. At the same time, we work a lot with the body.
You are invited to move, follow your impulses, and stay connected to your bodily awareness. Everything is continuously integrated with your verbal reflections.

Together, we explore and re-enact situations you have experienced where something remains unresolved. You are invited to step into different perspectives and experience the situation in new ways.
This can be a powerful and healing process, allowing for deeper insight, emotional release, and new understanding.
Creativity is given space to unfold as you are invited to use colours and drawing materials to explore a specific theme or experience.
Together, we explore the sensations and expressions within your artwork, opening up new insights into your inner resources and deeper sense of self.

Together, we explore the different parts of your personality that live within you, and how they interact with one another. You may notice that one or two parts sometimes take up more space or have a stronger influence on you.
You will get to know these parts more deeply, and learn to recognize when they show up in your everyday life. This creates the possibility of responding more consciously in future challenges and conflicts, rather than reacting automatically.
The body holds a deep intelligence that you are invited to reconnect with.
Body and mind are closely connected. In my work, I use hands-on table work, but we also go into a deep connection with the body through talk-based therapy.
I draw on my background as a certified Body Therapist to help you become more present in your body, increase body awareness, and gently support the release of stored tension and trauma.

Your dreams can reveal a great deal about how you are feeling, the inner resources you have available, and the underlying themes in your life challenges.
In my sessions, we explore the sensory and emotional experience of your dreams. What do you notice? How do you respond? What feels true for you?
Breathwork, meditation, and nature.
Mindfulness is about grounding and reconnecting with your core sense of self.
In my sessions, we often work with these elements. At times, sessions may take place outdoors in nature, depending on what feels right for you. It is always individual. However, there is always a focus on breath and grounding.

It is very individual how many sessions are needed before change begins to unfold. Psychotherapy is only one part of your journey – it helps open you up to making more self-compassionate choices and to begin doing things that bring you energy and reconnect you with your creativity.
Personal development is a long process, and positive change often happens gradually. This can sometimes feel frustrating, but also deeply meaningful when you start to notice it. It is often in moments of conflict or challenging situations that change becomes most visible.
Then, almost unexpectedly, you and those around you begin to notice it.
Your partner will feel it.
Your children will feel it.
Your colleagues may notice it.
And you will notice yourself slowly beginning to bloom.
Here are some of the positive changes my clients have noticed on their journey of personal development:
You feel more at ease in life and experience a deeper sense of inner calm. You may even find that you enjoy your own company more and more. Being alone no longer feels uncomfortable – in fact, it can feel peaceful and nourishing.
You are able to respond to situations without feeling overwhelmed or having it take over your entire day.
Things don’t escalate in the same way as they used to.
When something goes wrong, you are able to move on more quickly. You are less hard on yourself, and the inner self-blame that once took up a lot of space begins to soften.
You have more inner capacity and resilience, which makes you less easily irritated and more generally calm and content. You may notice that you respond differently to others, and that those around you – including your children – also feel more relaxed and at ease.
